The Kipling House

After our beginning adventures in colorful painting we made a shorter project that focused on developing our drawing skills.  The subject I chose was BIRDS. All three levels drew birds that had varying degrees of difficulty.  I focused on bird anatomy and know that it’s important that the kids understand bird “parts” so they can reconstruct the “whole”. On all levels I describe the bird parts in relationship to the Art Elements. Analyzing the various different types of lines and shapes and how they relate to one another. The results were great! I think the Kids were all surprised at their efforts. I think they are amazed at their drawing ability with a little bit of reflection, focus and direction. We cut and pasted our Beautiful Bird and caged them for overhead display in the Art Room. They’ll be flying to your homes next week, so be on the lookout for your kids feathered creations.
