Our special Fall Pumpkin Workshop this week was Fun, Fun ,Fun.  Great yummy snacks, apple cider and pumpkin cookies were enjoyed by all. The Kids made one of my favorite autumn projects, a pumpkin patch painting.  The focus was on drawing round objects(pumpkins) and curving the interior lines to make them appear 3D. All were very successful. The pumpkins were colored in layers of Sharpie markers and the sky and ground were painted with tempera paint. Nice festive decorative paintings for this Fall Season.  Artlady

Birds, in their Cages

After our beginning adventures in colorful painting we made a shorter project that focused on developing our drawing skills.  The subject I chose was BIRDS. All three levels drew birds that had varying degrees of difficulty.  I focused on bird anatomy and know that it’s important that the kids understand bird “parts” so they can reconstruct the “whole”. On all levels I describe the bird parts in relationship to the Art Elements. Analyzing the various different types of lines and shapes and how they relate to one another. The results were great! I think the Kids were all surprised at their efforts. I think they are amazed at their drawing ability with a little bit of reflection, focus and direction. We cut and pasted our Beautiful Bird and caged them for overhead display in the Art Room. They’ll be flying to your homes next week, so be on the lookout for your kids feathered creations. Fall Art Classes-2011

Art classes at Casa began this year with a Painted Color Explosion. These wonderful works of art have been on display for two weeks in the Casa Art Room, and were wildly received with RAVE reviews.  We began all three levels by reviewing and exploring the Elements of Art. We focused on Line, Shape, Space and especially Color. The results were fabulous!  These works were sent home this  week, so be on the lookout for some Wild and Wonderful Works of Art.
